Melanie Kevern
Hi I’m Melanie, and I’m the principal consultant at MKK Consulting Services, based in Alexandra Hills in south east Brisbane.
As a child I was always intrigued by plants and nature, and became interested in science from an early age, particularly biology. Going to university, I naturally went into the life sciences, concentrating on immunology, biochemistry, pharmacology and genetic engineering.
For some of my immunology education I was part of a screening project looking at how plants, actinomycetes and other microorganisms could produce compounds with therapeutic potential. Biochemistry taught me how these compounds could impact the body. Pharmacology taught me how, when formulated and regulated, these compounds can be used by people to help manage their health. Genetics helped me understand the fundamental individuality which underpins our systems and how they interact in the world. This was the foundation that led me to believe that nature has the answer to most of our health concerns and the potential for personalised nutritional and health management options. The outcome of this belief and understanding is that people deserve a greater range of options for self-care, and that helping products get access to market can improve health outcomes.
Having worked in theraputic and food regulated industries as a chemist, and then as a regulatory specialist working closely with marketing and sales departments in the private sector for over 20 years, I can sympathise with the commercial pressures and constraints of making a quality product that is marketable and compliant. My experiences taught me that there’s no “one size fits all” solution to the many challenges faced by companies wishing to navigate the healthcare industry.
Being able to offer unique problem solving to my clients is what gets me up and going each morning. But the reason I love what I do, and what I find so interesting (in addition to the science I still get to explore) is having my clients come with so many varied ideas and concepts. I love watching those ideas develop into products and health solutions that afford people greater choice in their self care.
No question is too silly, no idea is too “out there”. I’ve helped many clients successfully bring their products to market with the correct approvals and compliance in place. Contact me now to see how I can help you.
